The first month: 447 commits

In December 2025 the foundation was built: permalinks, virus checks, snapshots, a login service of our own, a support chat and the first guardians.

#Relyper#Milestone#Tech

In December 2025, 447 commits were made – more than in any month since. It was the month a concept turned into a platform.

What was built that month

Date What changed in the code Why it matters
Dec 3 The permalink page was expanded, and global search now also finds sources by their permalink. Every saved source can be found at a fixed address.
Dec 4 New links are sent to VirusTotal automatically; a scheduler collects the results and records them. Nobody should be led to a dangerous page through Relyper.
Dec 7 The snapshot service was extended. The snapshot is the actual archive – the copy that stays.
Dec 14 Relyper got a login service of its own based on the OpenID Connect standard: sign-in endpoints, app management, one-time codes and signing keys. Other apps can offer “Sign in with Relyper” – a basis for using one account across several projects.
Dec 19 A support chat window on every page, with live messages and an admin view. Help is always one click away.
Dec 22 A bridge between the support chat and Discord, a knowledge base for the support bot and the new guardians page – around 1,500 new lines in one day, not all finished yet. The community can help with support.

Why so much at once?

An archive people are supposed to trust needs more than a save button. If you save someone else’s page, you need to be sure it contains no malware. If you want to build several projects, you need an account that works everywhere. And if you have users, you need support.

Explained simply: OpenID Connect (OIDC) is the standard behind buttons like “Sign in with Google”. Relyper speaks this standard itself – so other apps can offer “Sign in with Relyper” without ever seeing a password.

The rhythm afterwards

December was followed by 210 commits in January, then quieter phases and another push in May with 157 commits. By now there are over 1,000 commits on 117 different days. What I have built since is in the post How new projects come about.
